Mexico is a country that’s absolutely packed with awesome things to see and do. From ancient ruins to white sandy beaches, you’ll never run out of things to keep you entertained.
So, where should you start? Well, first up, there’s Chichen Itza. It’s one of the most famous tourist attractions in Mexico, and for good reason. This ancient Mayan city is home to some of the most impressive ruins you’ll ever see, like the iconic El Castillo pyramid. You’ll definitely want to take a guided tour to get the most out of your visit.
Next up, you’ve got to check out Tulum. It’s another ancient Mayan city, but this one’s located on the Caribbean coast. Not only will you get to explore the ruins, but you’ll also get to relax on some of the most beautiful beaches you’ve ever seen. It’s the perfect combination of culture and relaxation.
If you’re looking for a more beachy vibe, then Cancun is the place for you. Known for its white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and vibrant nightlife, Cancun is a popular tourist destination in Mexico. You’ll be able to swim, snorkel, or dive in the Caribbean Sea or take a day trip to the nearby Isla Mujeres.
Mexico City is also a must-see destination. As the capital of Mexico, it’s home to a wide range of cultural and historical attractions, like the ancient Aztec city of Tenochtitlan, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, and the National Museum of Anthropology. The historic centre of The Zocalo, Metropolitan Cathedral, and Municipal Temple are also must-sees in Mexico City.
At the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, Cabo San Lucas is another popular destination. You’ll find a mix of adventure and relaxation there. You can take a boat tour to see the famous Land’s End arch, go snorkelling or scuba diving in the crystal-clear waters, or simply relax on one of the many beaches. With so much to do, it’s the perfect spot.
Playa del Carmen is another great spot, located on the Caribbean coast. Beaches, nightlife, and the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum make it one of the most popular destinations. You can explore the town’s vibrant Fifth Avenue for shopping, dining, and entertainment or take a day trip to the nearby Xcaret Eco-archaeological Park.
If you’re looking for a real adventure, you should check out Copper Canyon. It’s a spectacular canyon system located in the Sierra Tarahumara and it’s perfect for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. You can also take a scenic train ride through the canyon and visit the indigenous Tarahumara communities.
If you’re into colonial-era cities and the mummies, Guanajuato is the place for you. It’s located in the mountains of central Mexico, known for its winding cobblestone streets, brightly-coloured colonial buildings and the famous Mummies Museum. The city also hosts the annual Festival Internacional Cervantino, one of the most important cultural events in Mexico and Latin America.
From ancient ruins to white sandy beaches, you’ll never run out of things to do. And don’t forget, Mexico is also famous for its food, music and parties, so make sure to indulge in some delicious tacos, listen to some mariachi and have a good time.
